Leake Announces Highlights of Their 45th Annual Tulsa Auction

2017 marks Leake Auction Company’s 45th year in the car auction business. Their flagship sale kicks off in Tulsa’s River Spirit Expo on Friday, June 9 and continues through Sunday, June 11. 700 lots will be showcased during the three-day event. Attendees can expect to see decades of automotive history, such as a 1916 Ford Model T, a 1929 Packard 640 Custom Eight, a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429, and a 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider. Broncos, corvettes, mustangs and many other collector vehicles will be displayed.

“When I look back at the auction business over the years, it is amazing how it has evolved,” said Richard Sevenoaks, president of Leake Auction Company. “James C. Leake, Sr. started selling cars on a strip of grass in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Collectors from all over the world attended to buy specific cars for their collections. As the demand increased for a venue to sell classic cars, he moved to an indoor facility in Tulsa featuring one auction lane. We continued to expand the business to Dallas and Oklahoma City and added another auction lane.”

Sevenoaks continued, “Mr. Leake started selling cars for and to car collectors. Classic cars have become more than hobby; it’s a business. The number of classic car dealers continues to increase. Cars are now sold online and by phone, further expanding our ability to reach people and sell cars.”
