1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz to be Offered Without Reserve

Leake Auction Company will offer a rare, 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz without reserve during their flagship auction in Tulsa, June 10, 11 and 12 in the River Spirit Expo. The Biarritz features a rebuilt 365 CI/325 HP OHV V-8 engine and 4-speed hydra-matic automatic transmission. It is equipped with factory air conditioning, heat, power windows and convertible top. The parade boot is painted to match the Elysian Green exterior.

In 1957 the Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz received important mechanical and cosmetic updates. The new X-frame construction provided increased structural rigidity and a smoother riding experience. The Cadillac’s 365-cubic inch V-8 was topped with two, 4-barrel carburetors, which was capable of producing 325 brake horsepower. This was 20 more horsepower than the standard Cadillac engine.

With the new mechanical updates, the 1957 Eldorado’s also received a complete restyling. Many of the updates were inspired by the Eldorado Brougham and Park Avenue show cars. The new chassis allowed the body to sit lower, reducing the height and improving the visual impression on the road. The car was also given a distinctive tail treatment, featuring rounded flanks, with each one bearing a single shark-like fin. Only 1,800 Biarritz convertibles were produced in 1957.

“Cadillacs were definitely a status symbol during the 50s,” said Richard Sevenoaks, president of Leake Auction Company. “The 1957 Eldorado Biarritz is the epitome of classic Detroit iron. I have always been intrigued by the fin design of the Biarritz. The body style of this car is pure art.”
